Getting my endurance on
With so many of my peeps injured or on the verge, I am glad that I was blessed with a little patience this off season. I am truly building my endurance engine by taking it slow for the next 3 months. I can already tell the difference in how my body feels the next day. Like my coach always said, you should be fresh when coming into a tough workout. If you are always exhausted or have more than a few average workouts each week, then it is my belief you are running hard too often. At some point you need to get healthy and give your body a break from the year long training. Yeah, you might get faster, but at what expense? Also, did you get as fast as you could have? The truth is if you rush your base building you won't benefit at all. Oh yeah, it's October. Why are people already hammering? I don't get it. They wonder why they are always hurt.

Slow down weekend
Saturday was a full day of training and yard work...follow buy bbq burgers. I am really loving this aerobic building, and I mean real aerobic building. I am so far from LT/AT that my body is feeling fresh for every workout. That's the way it should be. Two and a half more months of this and we will see how things turn out.
On a different note, I'm also loving this house. It is so far from being ordinary that I still forget about some of the spaces we have. It's a slow process but in time it will make it our own. A piece of the furnace needs to be replaced so that sucks, but all is good so far.

Short cuts!
There are no short cuts to fintess and health. If you want to be healthy when you get older, you better start now. Being healthy doesn't mean you have to go extreme because much of that wears your body out, so healthy living leads to being fit....in my opinion.

Loving this training
I've been remembering all the teachings of an old Greek man that helped me in college as well as all of my old coaches and friends. What I've realized is that getting back to training for health is the only way to get truly healthy and meet goals. Training only for performance might yield results, but at what cost? Since going totally aerobic, my muscle pain is slowly going away and my body is less tired. My energy at the beginning of workouts is high. So the key is always patience which so many don't have. The next few months will be ineresting as I will see how my body adapts to healthy training.
Ironman at 50
Well I have decided with the permission of my wife to compete in the 2014 Ironman Arizona God willing. That for sure might be my last since life will have hopefully taken a turn for the better and our family will be in full swing. There's no way I can justify making them sacrifice that kind of time, nor will I want to miss that amount of time from my family. Just sayin....
